Tai Kwun | HSBC's 160th Anniversary Exhibition for Free: Six Exhibition Areas, 4-meter-tall Lion Statue, Bank Collections, and Gifts

Description
Hong Kong people have always had a deep attachment to HSBC. Coinciding with the bank's 160th anniversary, a special exhibition titled 'HSBC: 160 Years of Storytelling: A Prosperous Past, A Shared Future' will be held in October. You can step into the former bank hall to admire a range of precious exhibits, enjoy interactive experiences, take photos with a four-meter-tall lion statue, and even receive a gift. Online registration for the exhibition is now open.
The exhibition will be held at the Duplex Gallery of Tai Kwun in Central from 17 October to 7 November. Online pre-registration is required, and slots are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each registered visitor can bring along one child aged 12 or below.
First Stop: Starting the 160-year Journey
The first exhibition area recreates the 'Reception' from the 1980s, complete with the iconic red and white striped summer uniform of HSBC receptionists from that era, bringing back fond memories.
Second Stop: Unlocking the Memory Vault
Step through the simulated doors of a 50-ton vault and discover a range of rare artifacts, including the first-ever share certificate issued in 1865 and the first customer account book.
Third Stop: The Banknote Aquarium
Many people have fond memories of HSBC's banknotes, especially the $100 note featuring the HSBC lion and the $10 'shrimp' note. In this area, banknotes from different eras are transformed into origami sea creatures in an immersive experience that invites visitors to relive collective memories and take photos.
Fourth Stop: A Journey Through Time
After viewing the rare artifacts and visiting the Banknote Aquarium, take a seat at one of the three generations of HSBC bank counters, which have evolved over the years in terms of design and service experience. Get hands-on with HSBC passbooks, passbook machines, and early desktop computers to trace the development of the banking industry alongside Hong Kong's urban growth.
Fifth Stop: Envisioning the Future
The grand finale of the exhibition is a four-meter-tall lion statue standing proudly in the center of the exhibition area, inspired by the well-known HSBC lions, 'Stephen' and 'Stitt'. Visitors can leave their unique mark in this digital forest of light and shadows, envisioning a future together.
Sixth Stop: 160th Anniversary Timeless Rewards
Share your visit on social media and receive a random gift, each carrying a piece of HSBC's 160-year story.
